Rural communities have been hit hard with hospital closings, chronic diseases and an overall lack of care options, says Adam.
According to Adam, as hospital systems consolidate and move operations to urban centers, many rural communities are left without any type of healthcare options. Many residents drive hours to the nearest facility for primary care and hospital care. Luckily, there are initiatives aiming to put doctors back in those communities now.
